An
inspirational speaker started off his speech at a seminar by holding up a $100
bill in front of a crowd of about 200, gathered to hear his speech. He asked,
“Who would like this $100 bill?” All the
200 hands went up.
He said, “I am going to give this $100 bill to one of you but first, let me do this.” He crumpled up the bill. He then asked, “Who still wants it?” All the 200 hands went up again.
“Well,” he replied, “What if I do this?” He then dropped the bill on the ground and stomped on it with his shoes. He picked it up, and showed it to the crowd. The bill was all crumpled and dirty. “Now who still wants it?” All the hands went up once more.
The speaker started saying, “My friends, I have just shown you a very important lesson. No matter what I did to the money, you still wanted it because it did not lose its value. It was still worth $100. In our lives, life crumples us many times and grinds us into the dirt. We make poor decisions or deal with difficult situations. We feel worthless. But no matter what has happened or what will happen, you will never lose your value as YOU ARE SPECIAL. Never forget it.”
